— 13 years of judicial experience, legal advice toward a 'harmonious and happy inheritance'

Hello. This is JONJAE Law Firm.

We are pleased to share good news. Yoon Ji-sang, Managing Attorney of JONJAE Law Firm, has been selected as one of the 「2022 New Leaders Raising National Prestige」 chosen by News Report, a Sisa magazine for opinion leaders.

13 Years as a Judge, and What That Time Left Behind

In this interview, Managing Attorney Yoon Ji-sang reflected on his 13 years as a judge. Since being appointed as a judge at the Daejeon District Court in 2009, he served at the Uijeongbu District Court, Seoul Family Court, and Seoul Central District Court before becoming chief judge at the Daejeon Family Court, handling a wide range of matters—from family law practice such as divorce, inheritance, and juvenile protection cases to criminal, civil, and corporate rehabilitation cases.

In particular, while serving as a judge, he participated as a drafting committee member for the Supreme Court Administration’s 『Practical Guide to Trial Practice for Division of Inherited Property and the Reserved Portion』, and his legal depth and practical sense in inheritance law have long been recognized within the legal community.

In the interview, Managing Attorney Yoon Ji-sang emphasized a 'legal philosophy of communication and empathy'. What he learned while meeting countless parties from the bench was that behind every legal dispute there is always a human life. Based on that experience, he offered legal advice on 'harmonious and happy inheritance'.

Inheritance Disputes: Why Practical Experience Decides the Outcome

In the interview, Managing Attorney Yoon Ji-sang also candidly addressed the real-world difficulties of inheritance disputes. Disputes involving reserved shares, contributions, and claims for division of inherited property are areas that require expertise. However, not only lawyers but also judges often have few opportunities to deeply handle inheritance cases when there is no specialized bench.

That is why, when facing an inheritance dispute, he stresses that you must retain a lawyer with abundant practical experience and prepare a multifaceted analysis and a high-level strategy. Knowing which issues the bench focuses on and which evidence will influence the decision—and not knowing—creates a major difference in the outcome.
