[Personnel] Law Firm Jonjae hires partner attorney Park Sang-jin, a specialist in Korean and Japanese corporate, civil, and criminal law

Hello. This is Law Firm Jonjae.

Law Firm Jonjae strengthened its litigation capabilities by bringing in Attorney Park Sang-jin as a partner on March 12, 2024.

Partner Attorney Park Sang-jin — a legal professional bridging Korea and Japan as an "international expert"

Partner Attorney Park Sang-jin graduated from Anyang High School and Korea University College of Law, and after passing the bar exam, completed the 37th Judicial Research and Training Institute. He built his litigation expertise while working at major domestic firms such as Chungjeong LLP, and accumulated a wide range of practical legal experience through posts at the Korea Legal Aid Corporation, as a legal officer at the Seoul High Prosecutors' Office, and as a secretary in the office of the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly.

In particular, Attorney Park Sang-jin's distinguishing strength lies in his international capabilities spanning legal practice in both Korea and Japan. He has handled a wide range of matters related to Japan, having worked at CityU and a law office in Japan, provided legal counsel to Sanrio in Japan, served as a foreign researcher at Waseda University's Faculty of Law, and served on the International Committee of the Korean Bar Association. He is a lawyer who understands both Korean and Japanese law and can design jurisdiction, costs, and enforcement for cases moving between the two countries.

"I have only thought about litigation that produces good results"

Attorney Park Sang-jin said, "While moving between Korea and abroad, I have studied the legal principles of both Korea and Japan and repeatedly researched the latest laws, regulations, and interpretations, always thinking only of good results for my clients." He added, "Whether the matter is in Korea or a case that crosses between Korea and Japan, I will pursue outcomes that satisfy clients by considering both cost and accessibility, from settlement and negotiation to the choice of jurisdiction for dispute resolution."

Completing a higher standard of global family law services

Since its establishment, Law Firm Jonjae has handled many overseas family law cases, including numerous matters in the United States and Japan as well as in Korea. In 2023, it recruited Partner Attorney Shin Hyesung, a former judge specializing in family and juvenile cases, further strengthening its expertise in divorce, inheritance, and juvenile protection cases.

With the addition of Partner Attorney Park Sang-jin, Law Firm Jonjae has established a system to oversee the growing volume of Korea-Japan litigation. By welcoming an "international expert" lawyer who knows both Korean and Japanese law and can smoothly handle everything from actual litigation to final judgments and enforcement in Korea, the quality of its global family law services has risen to a new level.

Managing Attorneys Yoon Ji-sang and Noh Jong-eon said, "We are very pleased that Attorney Park Sang-jin, who has the capabilities to handle litigation in both Korea and Japan, has joined us, strengthening Law Firm Jonjae's litigation capabilities," and added, "We will continue to provide excellent legal services to our clients."

We will continue to share news from Law Firm Jonjae.
